What is a crib?
A crib is a small bed with high edges or rails in which babies and toddlers sleep.
Although you can use the crib from the first day your baby comes home, many parents choose to have their newborn sleep with them in the same bed for a few months, and then move them into the crib. Generally, cribs are used an average of 24 months, but depending on a baby’s weight and height, some may be used as late as four or five years old.
The right time to move your baby from crib to bed varies from baby to baby. One sign that your little one is ready to take the next step, however, is when he or she no longer fits in the crib or can escape from it with minimal effort.
Where to buy a crib?
You can buy a crib anywhere that sells baby items: neighborhood stores, department stores specializing in maternity, department stores and online stores. Since it is one of the must-have items when you have a baby, it is also one of the items that is never missing from the stores.
The advantage of online stores over the rest is that it is more convenient, they usually have better prices and you can easily compare brands and prices.
It is important that, if in the end, you decide to buy on the Internet, you don’t just look at the price. Also take into account the return policy of each online store. It is clear that all of them will allow you to return the crib if it is defective, but what if you simply don’t like it or it doesn’t fit what you expected? Will you be able to return it without any problem and without cost?
With Amazon, yes, since you can return any product without having to give explanations, quickly and easily and without any cost.
Besides, the variety of cribs offered by Amazon is extensive enough for you to find one that fits you. You will receive it in a matter of hours or days (5 working days maximum) depending on the type of shipping you choose. Also, their prices are always lower than those of the physical stores.
Which is the best crib 2021?
There is no best crib, only the most suitable for you and your baby. It is important that you take into account the aspects I mentioned before in order to choose correctly.
However, to make it easier for you, I have made a comparison chart (I update it frequently) with my selection of what I consider the best standard cribs. This table is based on my own experience as well as on that of other parents.

Types of cribs
There are several types of cribs.
Standard cribs are the typical rectangular bar crib. They are the most popular and therefore the best selling. They do not fold and lack drawers or other functional elements. If you only want a place for your baby to sleep, a standard crib will do.
Bassinet cribs, also called bassinets or cuckoos, are compact models that provide a safe sleeping environment for newborns. They are characterized by their oval shape and a folding hood.
They’re usually less expensive than a standard crib and most have wheels so they can be easily moved from room to room.
However, you can use them for much less time than a standard crib because they’re smaller and your baby won’t fit in a few months.
They usually include drawers, a table or even a changing table. In short, a piece of furniture that can have many functions. They are perfect for small rooms.
These cribs are compact, lightweight and foldable or detachable so they can be carried in your luggage when you travel. They are perfect for parents who need to travel with their children often.
Cribs for bedding
It is a standard crib, but one of the sides can be lowered or removed to fit your side of the bed. This way, the baby can sleep with you in the same room, but with a space just for him/her.
This type of crib is one of the most functional baby furniture you can buy, since at first you will have a crib and when the baby is ready, you can transform it into a bed or a bed with a table or a chest of drawers, depending on the model you choose.
They are the cribs for the newborn. A normal crib will be too big for a baby, so I advise you first to buy a mini-cradle so that your baby will be calm and comfortable.

How to choose a suitable crib for your baby?
If you want to choose the most suitable crib for you and your baby, consider the following aspects:
Safety: the crib must comply with current European regulations on safety for cribs. The best way to ensure that it complies with the latest safety standards is to buy it new. If possible, avoid buying or accepting a second-hand crib. Old models may not meet current safety standards or may not be in good condition.
Mattress support: A metal or wooden base will resist a child who jumps or stands up better than a chipboard or plywood base.
Adjustable mattress height: this allows you to put the mattress higher for the first few months, making it easier to position your baby; and to lower it as your baby grows so he or she can’t get out of the crib and fall.
Mobility: Many of the cribs, especially the portable ones and mini-cribs, have wheels to make it easier to move the crib from one place to another when necessary. It is important that the wheels have a brake so that it does not move.
Crib Shape: Round or oval cribs are elegant and original, but keep in mind that finding a mattress or bedding for these special shapes is more difficult.
Weight and age limit: Cribs, like any other baby item, have age and weight limits. Most are designed for use from birth to 3-4 years of age, although convertibles can be used up to about 9 years of age.
What do I prefer?
The truth is that they are all good cribs but if I had to choose one, it would be this one that stands out above all for its excellent quality, which translates into great durability. Your child will outgrow it and it will still be as good as new.
It’s one of the best-selling and most highly-rated cribs, so if you decide to buy it, you’ll be sure to get it right.
Made of 100% microfiber polyester, it is silky soft and cozy. Truly skin-friendly. No rashes on babies’ sensitive hand
